The NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting Course teaches students the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a rifle safely and responsibly. This class covers firearms safety, secure storage, nomenclature and operation, basic rifle marksmanship, and many other important subjects for the new rifle owner or shooter.
This is a pass/fail course with a 50 question written exam, and upon successful completion the student will be awarded an NRA Certificate.
The NRA Basic Rifle Course is broken down into five lessons. Course length will vary. Students will be given a break for lunch.

What to bring:
- hearing protection. Preferably in-the-ear foamies or form fitted. Muffs may be worn, but may interfere with proper cheek placement.
- eye protection: proper shooting glasses, or prescription glasses with shatter proof lenses
- comfortable clothing for the prevailing weather conditions. No Low Cut clothing, No Open Toe Footwear
- Our range is not covered and the live-fire portion may be postponed if weather is bad.
- water bottle
- pen, pencil , highlighter for notes and testing
- Your .22lr rifle with standard open type sights. (No Optics for this class) in a proper hard or soft case, 150 rounds of .22lr caliber ammunition, and ear and eye protection.
If you do not own a .22lr rifle, loaners are available. If utilizing our loaners, you will need to bring ammo specified by us, or purchase our ammo at prevailing cost plus 10% of what it cost us.
Class length: 8 - 10 Hours depending on class size
Minimum Class Size: 5
